Attendee Status - Cancelled vs Refunded

What is the difference between a refund and cancelled status for an attendee?  The refund status means that you have refunded the attendee an amount towards their payment and the attendee is still expected to attend the event which is included in the total number for the event.  However, if you log a full refund for an attendee and they are not coming to the event you will instead want to set their status as Cancelled which will remove the attendee from the total count for the event making for a more accurate number and opening up a seat for another registrant.
